DIVORCE SUPPORT

for people struggling to cope with the break-up of a                    marriage or partnership

WHO WE ARE

221 is a self-help group committed to

helping people who are finding it hard to

come to terms with all the emotional and

practical difficulties they face after the

break-up of a marriage or

long-term partnership.

WHAT WE DO

We meet once a month.

So often, recovering from an event that

has broken our confidence is a lonely

and frightening experience.

Talking together with others in similar

situations is recognised as one of the

very best ways to recover.

We provide a six week course that

addresses the main stumbling blocks to our recovery.

Through social activities arranged by

the various groups, participants rebuild their

confidence and restore a sense of normality

to their everyday lives.

221 Divorce Support is run entirely by

volunteers.

WHY 221 WORKS

Talking together with people who

really understand, is a great comfort

and can be a lifeline.

At 221 we have all experienced

divorce and understand the trauma.

We know the challenging issues that cause

so much distress.

We understand that it takes time to

regain confidence and trust.

We understand that it takes time to get

used to being single again and to find the

motivation to move on.

221 is not a dating agency and we provide a safe and

confidential environment to aid recovery.

221 DIVORCE SUPPORT

Our 221 SELF HELP groups meet once a month and the days and times vary between each individual group.

The meetings are usually held on church premises, or in large coffee shops or

garden centres which are

easily accessible.

Our priority is always to provide a comfortable space where participants know that discretion and confidentiality

are assured.

In the true nature of self-help groups,

we do not provide any professional

advice or counselling.

The strength is from within - talking

with others in who are in similar circumstances and sharing

experiences of the mental challenges, family anxieties, financial stresses,

the legal procedures  - anything that is causing concern.

Knowing that the people around you

can empathise with your distress,

is a huge relief.

WHO CAN JOIN A GROUP?

All our groups are supported by local churches, and any member of the local

community is welcome to join.  All participants must have experienced,

or be experiencing a  marriage break-up, or the break-up of a long-term relationship.

We welcome members of all faiths or none.

WHERE ARE THE GROUPS?

We currently have groups in Peterborough, Northampton and Cambridge.
